What a photograph leaves out
A current exhibition is a starting point for thinking about the difference between keeping an image and keeping a memory.

What a photograph leaves out.
Culture & the things we do togetherA photograph has edges. A memory rarely does. It seems worth looking at the space between the things an image shows and the things we bring to it: who pressed the shutter, what happened just outside the frame, why someone kept this picture rather than another.
In Our Image brings together Saskia Haalebos, Kiah Pullens, Minh-An Pham and David Newson-Tran at photo access in Canberra. Curated by Gabrielle Hall-Lomax, the exhibition opened on 29 October and is listed through 28 November 2026. The artists’ practices extend across photographic images, archives and installation.
This is an invitation to explore the exhibition and the artists’ own work, rather than a claim to have visited. The gallery page links to artist information; it is the place to start before deciding what to see.
